So, I've been too busy preparing for a show to write a full review but I've listened to all of Burzum's albums, and Varg is seriously talented in a compositional sense. To be honest, I liked some of the vocals but I don't begrudge anyone for disliking them the way that he does them. I was very surprised at how well he can write a song, its beautiful in that black metal sort of way. I liked their third and fourth albums the best so far but the post incarceration albums are great too.

I should check out some Burzum one of these days. I just haven't been in a music listening mood in weeks really.

If all you can appreciate in an artist is vocal skill and musicianship, then you're really missing out.

Yeah. Varg and Kurt and both filled their music to the brim with raw emotion, despite possessing relatively technical skill.

that's why I liked Nirvana so much a few years ago, it was filled with so much emotion, same is true with Burzum

Yes he is a good musician... just because he doesn't fill his music with retarded sweeps, or cram 2585256965 riffs into a song doesn't make him a bad musician. He's still one of the masters of simplistic, effective songwriting, and is better than whatever shitty band you would be able to name.
