Morbid Angel was one of the first death metal bands. They were part of the group of death metal bands from Florida, along with Death, Obituary, Deicide, and other notables. Their debut album is widely regarded as one of, if not the, best death metal albums. They also happen to be my favorite death metal band.

Anyone else a fan?
I need to get more by them, I only have Altars. Erk

Fucking fantastic album though.
Never been impressed with them. I like Where the Slime live. Seen them live too many times. Great drummer.
It's strange.. most of the bands like Morbid & Deicide that most people flip out over I think are Meh.
I also have to check out a lot more of their stuff, but what I have heard has been awesome.

Covenant and Blessed Are The Sick are both really, really good, but the rest of their albums are worth checking out as well.
They are pretty good, though I'm not a huge fan, I have "Gateways" and "Heretic."
What I really like about them are the guitar tone they use for the solos, which is a terrific contrast to their speedy riffs.
I'm a pretty big fan of Morbid Angel, and Dave Vincent remains one of my all-time favourite dm vocalist/frontmen ever. When I first heard them in the early-90s, they sounded supremely cool and there wasn't a band on the planet that sounded like them. I know that's pretty much true of a bunch of other old-school pioneering death metal legends, of that time. But yeah, while I don't love all their albums equally, I'd still wanna go and watch them AND definitely avidly awaiting their upcoming latest...IF Trey would quit being such a fucking lazy pain and finally give the fans what they really want: an all-new studio disc.

My personal faves by MA are the first three, A, B and C, i.e Altars, Blessed and Covenant (perhaps my #1). I didn't like Domination much. Entangled in Chaos (live album) was pretty good without being anything spectacular, since MA can and do generally slay live onstage. I loved Formulas, a little let down by Gateways, but enjoyed the under-rated last one, Heretic. The next album, due out this year, in keeping with MA's alphabetical sequence, is strongly expected to be titled with an 'I' word. Anybody here ever checked out their near-impossible-to-find, unreleased 'debut' Abominations of Desolation??. I had it, lost it, never could get it again. Cry

You've at least heard A, B, and C, though, right? I mean, no one would be a huge fan without hearing those three albums.

I have not heard A, B, or C.
I should really poke around for more of their stuff, since what I have heard is pretty badass. Up
Altars is essential DM listening. It's the only MA album I've heard, but I will say that much. Razz

If you think they're pretty good now, Morbid Angel will probably be your favorite band after you hear A, B, and C. Lol
Heretic was embarrassing.
Morbid Angel are pretty much the band that got me into death metal
and remain my favorite death metal band to this day. I own all their stuff on Cd and have seen them live three times. I am eagerly awaiting their newest
release which was rumored to be released this year ( they are running out of time for that it seems ) I can't say enough about how much I love this band.
Yeah, I don't see the new album coming out this year. Early next year, if we're lucky.

That cover is kinda gay, but I think this album will rule hard
Are there any samples or anything for this yet? As much as I love Morbid Angel, G and H really weren't that good and honestly, with so much good death metal being released nowadays, I would be very surprised if this album was actually worth bothering with.

Live, but you get the idea
I still need to get Blessed and Covenant. I don't think I'm gonna bother with any of the other ones, as I've heard most of them are sub-par.

But that cover is pretty gay tbh. Doesn't affect the music, but the only "shopped-to-fuck" covers I've really enjoyed like that, are Behemoth's.
FFF and Gateways are awesome tbh. Everything else is meh
