Gotta love Iron Maiden. Pound for pound, perhaps the most successful metal band of all time. Consistent, too, for the most part. I haven't really enjoyed their newest releases that much (thought Brave New World was their last really good one), but their stretch of albums in the early-mid 80's were some of the best ever imo. What's your take?
I really enjoy Maiden. They are one of the most over rated bands ever though I gotta admit. Lol They have influenced a hell of a lot of bands though and for good reason! They fucking rock! I do prefer the Paul Di'Anno era more than any other era though even Bruce's.

Don't listen to the Butt when he comes in this thread. He will ruin it.
Hahaha, I know. I had a bit of a debate with him on the other forum we both go to. Poor dude needs some "Powerslave" in his life.
I will ruin nothing you dink

As for Maiden, I've never been a fan in the slightest. I enjoy 3, maybe 4 songs (and even then, prefer covers that are done of those songs, over the originals), but for the most part, I've always found these melody-merchants to just be bland.

I mean, I respect what they've done for metal... but IMO, they've just been surpassed by hundreds of other bands nowadays, quality-wise.
Yeah like Burzum Rolleyes
You have to be of a certain mind to enjoy Burzum. Like the true kvlt mind. Pacman

Yep.
Burzum actually took music and threw it back a couple of pegs.

I am gonna not take the bait here
Awesome

Iron Maiden > Burzum

Iron Maiden > Burzum

Agreed. But watch this:

Burzum > Slayer Erk
Erk

That actually physically hurt me too read.
Love Iron Maiden. I won't say they have had a flawless run. From their inception to 7th Son of a 7th Son it's pretty solid though. When Adrian left the band is when the armor started showing signs of wear & tear. And when Bruce left as hard as I tried to accept the new personnel, it was terribly bland for a band of their capability. I agree with you Farted (Wow imagine that!) on Brave New World, although still its not quite as strong as I wish. I'd say if they had made an album based on the best songs from BNW & Dance of Death, you'd have a very solid album. Matter of Life Or Death is quite the dud though. McBrain is one of the most amazing drummers in the genre. And Maiden ARE the best live band around..... easily!
This thread has lots of bad opinions. Nono
I enjoy all three bands, but Slayer > Iron Maiden > Burzum.

Anyways, Iron Maiden is awesome. Possibly overrated, but still fantastic. All of their studio albums from the 80s are must-haves, and they're easily one of the best bands to see live.

EDIT: basically what Warlock said.

That's the point! I don't really believe what I said, but using the ">" sign can be fun.

Varg Vikernes > Kerry King Pacman
Oh you! Awesome
Awesome

I think "Powerslave" is Iron Maiden's best album. What do you fine folk believe?
Hmm... The Number of the Beast has some fantastic songs, but also a bunch of mediocre stuff. Powerslave, on the other hand, is solid the whole way through. Yeah, I'd have to go with Powerslave as well.
Killers for me Pacman

Definitely one of my top 4 Maiden albums. Between that one, Piece of Mind, Killers, & Beast. They all rotate to the top spot on my list depending on my mood on any given day.
