Hey guys, although I have gotten rid of all the lame, let-down albums that I ever bought and soon rued buying, I still occasionally get hold of something that I soon don't want anymore. And I bet it happens to all of you, from time to time.

SO, whether you BUY all the albums you want (as I always do), or 'download' a majority of your music albums, it doesn't matter one bit. This thread is simply about all the really sucky albums that you have welcomed to your world recently (say, for the past one year) and now wish you hadn't. Lol

My hate-roll goes:

Aborted----Slaughter & Apparatus, Strychine. 213
Kreator----Hordes of Chaos
Necrophagist---Epitaph
Deicide----Till Death Do Us Part
Testament----Formation of Damnation
Macabre---Dahmer
Kataklysm---Prevail
Cynic----Traced in Air
Decrepit Birth-----Diminishing Between Worlds

^ there could be a few more, but those are the automatic choices I can think of right now.

**Thank god, I did NOT buy Metallica's Death Magnetic although I was briefly, out of sheer curiosity tempted to pick it up....and wouldn't imagine buying something like AC/DC anyway. Lol

Traced In Air? Really? I'll admit it didn't live up to Focus but then again, they couldn't possibly top what that album was in terms of cult status. I think it was a very well done album. I even wrote a review for it (might not change anyone's minds, but then again, a different view might be interesting to see):

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/albums/index.php?album_id=9745" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false">http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/a ... um_id=9745</a><!-- m -->

I could list a fair share of these albums, but like NK, here are the ones that jump to mind (with shameless plugs to my reviews of each for anyone who might be interested)

Metallica - Death Magnetic (http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/al...um_id=9275)
All Shall Perish - Awaken The Dreamers (http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/al...um_id=9431)
Sonic Syndicate - Only Inhuman (http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/al...um_id=8990)
Judas Priest - Nostradamus (http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/al...m_id=8989p)

I actually really like Strychnine.213 a lot. And Hordes of Chaos is awesome. Mad One of the best albums of 2009 so far!

I actually haven't picked up any cd where I've hated it. Ever. Lol

The closest I have to hating one of my cds is

Dirty Diamonds - Alice Cooper
Dimmu - In Sorte Diaboli
Black Sabbath - Headless Cross/TYR (downloaded, would not give them the dignity of buying)
Metallica - Death Magnetic
Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death, Powerslave, Piece of Mind (bought AMOLAS as my first exposure to the band. Regretted it. Tried yet again with Piece of Mind, only liked The Trooper... tried yet again with Powerslave, only liked Aces High and the title track. :lolSmile

I can get behind the Kreator & Deicide for sure. The Deicide is quite unspectacular. Same with Judas Priests' latest offering. That one deserves the vomit smiley.

In addition I'll add these -

Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflickted. Generic riffs, and Igor really phoned this one in. Very bland.

Birds of Prey - Sulfur & Semen. This is a really cool band, but the album is pretty forgettable. I'd highly recommend their CD Weight of the Wound though.

Death Angel - Killing Season - another great band but this one just misses on all but one track.

Hate Eternal - Fury & Flames. I thought I, Monarch was uncharacteristically decent. And having Alex Webster involved I hoped might make this a decent album. Nope...It's truly forgettable.

Belphegor - Bondage Goat. - Meh they're Behemoth wannabe. They were better on Pestapokalypse & Fleshcult.

Evergrey - Torn. I once hated this band. Their previous album Monday Morning Apocalypse is actually really cool. So I was hoping this one would follow suit. Nope!

Yngwie - Perpetual Flame. I thought Ripper might make Malmsteen heavier. But Malmsteen made Ripper sound pussier. Oh well.

Exodus - Let There Be Blood. Let there be a reason for it is more appropriate. I hoped it would be cool but it's unneccesary. What is good, is a soundboard bootleg from Japan 2006. The new band play 3/4ths of the BBB album, and it has much mroe of a vibe then this.
I hated Headless Cross for the most part, All rush albums in the 80's disappoint me and despite the fact that everyone I know likes it, I hated DT's Awake album.

Aww Nolifer, as if my opinions would easily sway anybody here, much less a 'certain somebody'.... Razz Lol

Oh, I wish I felt the same about those two. After all, there went my dollars to waste, but no, I'd much rather have enjoyed them anyway. Strychnine.213 sounded pretty awful to me, from the trendy metal-corish vocals (the alternating growls sound hopeless which is sadder, still), and the insipid, forgettable riffing and nearly most everything felt so deflating that I have probably given up on Aborted. As for Kreator's HoC, I sort of liked it a bit, inititally, (and it has its few good points), but I quickly found it rather boring and annoying on further full listens.

I've heard plenty of Alice Cooper, but not that disc.

And hey, tbh, while I have also not been overly cursed with shitty, pricey cd album purchases most of my life, BUT your claim not to have landed a lousy disc EVER, sounds like no minor miracle, mate.... Lol

Yea, for a lifetime Deicide devotee (look at my avatar, for starters Lol ), Till Death Do Us Part left me pretty angry and sighing with sadness. And to think that this album title wording, for one, is what I used to feel about Deicide, the band, Grin back when the hell-raising Hoffman brothers were in charge of lead guitars.

Yes, I forgot about Death Angel's latest suck-fest, but luckily I had guessed as much, and so decided not to buy it.

Never ventured into Cavalera Conspiracy much, cos the little I had randomly heard of their other material before gave me no reason to go any further with them. Btw, have you checked out Sep's latest A-lex??. Still haven't got it, though I'd wanna hear it properly. That's saying a lot for a guy that hasn't been interested in Sepultura for a long time after disliking some of their post-Max recent discs.

Never heard of Birds of Prey. And I somehow can't stand Belphegor anyway. Ditto for Evergrey and Yngwie..

With Exodus, I've probably gone the way I did with Metallica's 'DM", i.e I'm highly leery about their Let There Be Blood album. And now you make me even more sceptical. Glad to know that the BbB effort by the new crew sounded seriously cool.

Ah, lastly buddy, so you don't regard Hate Eternal much eh? I have seen plenty of drooling over and dissing of Erik's band, over the years. I really dig them. And yes, I, Monarch is my clear favourite by them. My expectations regarding this album were also pretty high, given Alex's involvement and Erik's attitude and comments while the album was still in the works. It definitely hasn't lived up to my eager-beaver hopes, but to tell the truth, it hasn't entirely bombed with me either. There are many parts, albeit in infrequent patches, that I find pretty cool and catchy, in HE's monstrously, unrelentingly brutal-tech onslaught. Erik oughta admit that I, Monarch hasn't been beat, yet.

I'm sure I have lots of CDs that other people who consider lousy discs but I like a large variety of different music and yes even Metalcore.

Another one I just remembered I have that I don't really care for is Death Magnetic.
Load and Death Magnetic by Metallica
Nightfall in Middle Earth by Blind Guardian (not sure why I even got this in the first place)
Evisceration Plague by Cannibal Corpse (this wasn't horrible, but way overhyped)
Earthsblood by God Forbid
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Iced Earth
The System has Failed by Megadeth
A Predator's Portrait by Soilwork
Shogun by Trivium

Hey, who cares whether 'other people' consider the albums 'we' love, lovely or lousy?? I don't!!..And neither should you!...Besides, this thread is obviously about our own cd buys that we later regretted.

I, too, love(d) diverse music styles, but extreme metal has always been my definite mainstay. I still love the Blues, though listen to it far less often that I once used to.

You "just" remembered Death Magnetic?? That album oughta instanty scream out for attention for pure suckiness, on a thread like this. The only recent 'comeback' rock/metal albums that seem to have got an all-round thumbs down from fans that foolishly bought the cds, are GnR's Chinese Democracy (though I surprised myself by liking bits and parts of it), and Judas Priest's mega-meh failure, Nostradamus.. AC/DC's Black Ice seems to have an equal number of love/hate army of fans straddling the fence. I finally got my new cd of Heaven & Hell's The Devil You Know. I have heard it through once on Tuesday. I'm already getting an eerie feeling that it might just (maybe not, hoping it won't) join the list I have on this thread.
Nostradamus was utterly incomprehensible. It sucked so bad, I don't even think suck would want to be attached to it, if suck were a living, breathing thing.

I'll stick my neck out here & say Death Magnetic could have been a lot worse then it wound up being. Having said that I heard it all the way through once and thought it had some decent moments. But I never wound up buying it. Or downloading it for that matter.

The AC/DC I sort of forgot about. That one I also didn't buy. In fact, I downloaded that one illegally and trashed it after a few listens. It's utterly abhorrent!

Napalm, I can understand your reaction to the Heaven & Hell release. While I think it stands out miles ahead of Dehumanizer in terms of a decent album. It doesn't quite live up to the lofty expectations set by Mob Rules or H&H. Still I think it's worthy of keeping in my collection. But there is some forgettable material on that album undoubtedly.
^ ^ Ha, "miles ahead of Dehumanizer" already soothes my nerves somewhat, buddy. Lol ..Thanks for the timely consolation. Razz Btw, you probably need no reminding that I actually have pretty lowly regard for H&H, and moderate respect and liking for Mob Rules. So, tbh, my expectations of TDYK are, perhaps luckily, not particularly burdened by experiences of the past, and only by my curiosity and desire to appreciate what these vets (far from my favoured line-up btw) can conjure up TODAY. From what I've heard on one proper listen, TDYK sounds drearily sluggish, slow and soporific. Sad The good/great parts, if there are any, haven't really hit on me yet, and as always, I'm giving something like this album more patient listens before I can make up my mind about where I'm at. I hope I end up liking it enough not to regret buying it. In the meantime, Dio's boys, don't get in my face. Pacman

It wasn't really meant to sway or insult in any way, it's just that Matt recommended me to get Kreator's discography. I did and I still need to get into it and I must say that I don't think I'll ever learn to appreciate Mille's vocals...
So I will never miss a chance to... uh let's say bash his love of Kreator.
YEAH WELL YOU LISTEN TO PANTERA Mad

So is Kreator, though.
Kreator is more awesome.

I also downloaded some Opeth shit. Opeth = garbage
